4. Iceland - Yes, the secret is out about Iceland. In 2016 this country of 330,000 inhabitants hosted something like 1.7 million tourists, more than triple the visits of 2010. Certain attractions are being trampled beyond sustainability, and politicians have suggested imposing limits on tourism to protect the environment. The window on the sheer raw openness of the place may be closing, and 2018 may be your last shot to experience it.
5. Hawaii- Theres nothing like taking a classic trip to these beautiful islands. Fresh poke, gorgeous warm waters, and all-night luaus make this travel destination a favorite for families looking to get away for some fun in the sun.

Welcome Summer. Sun kissed skin, Fourth of July fireworks, sundresses and cool waters, there is nothing quite like it. This season brings out the inner child in all of us, so to accompany your adventures this season, we have included two of our favorite smoothie recipes that are not only delicious but also good for you! (100% guilt free - yes please!)
For our fresh and fruity friends:
Spirulina (1 Tbsp) - Contains the highest amount of protein per serving- 60% is protein!
Dates (2 dates) (pull apart and take out the pit) - Rich in fiber and natural sweetness
Chia seed (1 Tbsp) - Has omega-3 fatty acids and is rich in antioxidants
Spinach (1 cup) - Filled with necessary vitamins A, C, E and K
Unsweetened Almond Milk or Flax Milk + Added Protein (I cup) - Has low hormones, good for lactose intolerance and skin health. It is also high in minerals: calcium, iron, magnesium.
Blueberries (½ cup) - They are very high in antioxidants and acts as a natural sweetener for the smoothie.
Ice (3-4 cubes)
For our Rich and Creamy fans:
Maca Powder (1 Tbsp) - Superfood! This root is a natural source of energy, and believed to help prevent spikes in blood sugar. It also helps to balances estrogen levels.
Raw cocoa powder (1 Tbsp) - Chocolate! Everyone’s favorite. Delicious taste without the added sugars, emulsifies, fats. It is also very high in antioxidant value.
Almond butter (1 spoonful) - Almond butter is a great source of healthy monounsaturated fats, which helps to lower heart disease. It will add to the creaminess of the smoothie and thicken it up!
Flaxseed (1 Tbsp) - Flaxseed is noted for high protein, fiber and omega 3 fatty acids properties.
Banana (½-1 banana) - Mom’s classic cure for legs cramps, Banana contains potassium and is a natural sweetener. ProTip: Bananas really add to the creaminess of the smoothie, and is a perfect substitute for yogurts and ice cream.
Almond Milk (1 cup) - Has low hormones, good for lactose intolerance and skin health. It is also high in minerals: calcium, iron, magnesium.

1. Get in a relaxed position, and start to focus on your breathing. You should keep the breathing deep and consistent (think Darth Vader) and avoid shallow and rapid breathing.
2. Start in child's pose. Legs bent to either side of you, fall forward, and bring your arms overhead. Breathe.
3. Slowly, get onto your hand and knees for table top pose. Make sure you have a flat back and are returning to your breathe. Arch your back and lift your head, moving your body slight forward. Then round your spine and tuck the head. Do this back and forth a few times. (Cat/Cow pose).
4. Now slowly stand up one vertebrate at a time. Keep your eyes closed on this one as your stretch your arms overhead and continue to breathe. Bring your hands to heart center and stay like this for a few moments. Allow for your breathing to become quieter as you sink into a more relaxed state.
5. Now with feet shoulder distance apart, slowly reach for your toes (or shins) and remember to continue breathing with the same cadence. Stay like this for a few seconds, swinging your arms if it feels comfortable to do so.
6. Reach your legs back and utilize your core as your settle into plank position. Hold for 30 seconds, shifting your weight from the side of your left and right foot for added an added challenge to your obliques.
7. Lastly, release your plank and lay flat on your back with arms and legs outstretched. Close your eyes and flip your palms skyward. Breathe deeply here 5x. You are strong, you are beautiful, you are enough......Shavasana.

Whether it’s a casual Tuesday evening, or a romantic Saturday night in, bubble baths are a fun (and easy) way to enjoy some quality time together. 2. Candlelit Dinner in the Backyard
For your next date night in, try enjoying dinner outside for a change. 4. Make cocktails with your candle holder

Try kicking movie night up a notch by making it a vintage themed evening. Rules: Put the phones away and enjoy some quality time together watching the black and white classics. Instead of popcorn, indulge in some old school classics like Milk Duds, Cracker Jacks and Moon Pies! (Here is a great website for finding nostalgic treats). For added authenticity, try setting up a projector to display the movie instead of streaming online.

The idea of Skylar Body was inspired by real moms. When our founder, Cat Chen, realized that her daughter was allergic to Cat's beloved traditional perfumes, she went searching for a solution. She couldn't find a hypoallergenic option that she loved, and so she began talking to other moms. Soon, she realized women everywhere were struggling to find scented products that they loved and that were healthy for them and their family. That's how the idea of Skylar was born. And we are so thankful for all of the women and mothers who have supported us then and ever since.
We wanted to do something special for Mother's Day this year, and wanted to pay homage to who inspired our brand - mothers. We asked real women to tell us how their moms have inspired them to become who they are today. Because at the end of the day, we are all #inspiredbymoms. Whether she's your own mom, a mother figure or both. Happy Mother's Day, loves!

Candles are the perfect partner to a relaxing bubble bath, a good book, or a zen moment. At Skylar, when we asked our community what we should create next - candles were the top choice! And as part of our mission to inspire self-care and confidence in women everywhere, we couldn't think of a better partner in our Skylar gals' journey to self-care than a Skylar candle. And, knowing the unhealthy practices of the majority of the fragrance industry, we knew we had to do it.
A couple of facts...
Brands do not have to disclose the ingredients in their candles (including paraffin).
Brands do not have to disclose the ingredient list on candles, there are no regulations in place that require such disclosure. Crazy, right? What that means is there is no need to tell consumers that their candles do in fact have paraffin (and we'll get into what paraffin actually is shortly). In fact, when brands do not say explicitly “paraffin-free”, they likely do use paraffin.
95% of candles on the market today are made with paraffin.
What most people don't realize is that paraffin is a petrochemical - a chemical obtained from petroleum, coal or shale. Paraffin wax is derived from petroleum – a non renewable resource often used for the oil and gas industry. Yes, paraffin wax is actually obtained by dewaxing light lubricating oil stocks.
Petroleum, as we all know, is a resource extracted from the Earth, and as such, there is only a finite supply of it - making it a non-renewable resource. Paraffin, therefore, is not an eco-friendly base for candles.
Additionally, several university-level studies have shown that inhaling petrochemicals and ingredients derived from petrochemicals (like paraffin) can potentially cause health issues.
At Skylar, we think you should be able to breathe easy when you strike a match and light your candles - not worried about what you're inhaling and how it's impacting you or the earth. That's why we formulate our candles with soy and coconut wax. Renewable, sustainable resources that are natural (and safe).
