Making the switch to a non-toxic deodorant is a big and exciting step in your self-care and daily routines. All good things take time, so expect a 4-week transition period when you begin using a non-toxic deodorant. Embrace your body’s unique body chemistry as the detox stages may vary from person to person. Remember: it is normal for the ingredients to work differently on everyone.
Week 1: Throughout the first week, you may not notice a very big change in your underarms. This area is beginning to adjust to new ingredients that are not superficially covering up your underarm’s natural functions. Toward the end of the week, you may notice your underarms working hard, producing more sweat than usual.
Week 2: Your body is now getting used to the absence of certain ingredients and chemicals that used to cover up odor and sweat. Because of this, you may experience an increase in the growth of odor-causing bacteria for a short period of time. But don’t worry it won’t last long! The green tea leaf extract in Skylar’s Refreshing deodorant is an anti-bacterial ingredient that helps to fight against odor.
Optional: Use a clay mask to help deep clean and remove any leftover residue.
- If you want to fully clear out those pores and give your underarms a fresh start, try using a simple bentonite clay mask to pull out any remaining impurities.
Week 3: Odor that you may have noticed from week 2 will start to decrease this week. The pores in your armpits are getting cleared out and re-balanced, thanks sage leaf extract!
Week 4: This week you will notice your body beginning to fully adjust to your new deodorant. Your underarms are getting used to these new beneficial, effective and non-toxic ingredients so that you can feel refreshed throughout your day.
